Gmail app badge notification won’t clear. I’ve checked all emails and the badge keeps showing 3

The badge icon for gmail app keeps showing I have unread messages although I do not. Nothing seems to clear it. I’ve shut down my phone, restarted my phone, and nothing changes. This is really annoying. I will get new emails and not know it because I think it’s just the badge icon that won’t go away. How can we get this fixed? I am attaching a screenshot

I am having the same issue but it’s just 1 unread notification. It is driving me insane. I’ve checked everywhere. It doesn’t matter the device or browser, always shows for me.

Someone please help us out!

Same here. I have 1 unread email notification even when I’ve checked all mead as “read”.

Use the filter is:unread in search.

Then mark all of them as read.....by clicking the 3 dots button.

In the Gmail app click your profile picture in the upper right

-> click "Manage accounts on this device"

-> Click the blue switch associated with your Google account and turn it off (don't remove the account, just turn off the blue switch),

-> turn off all other google accounts

->turn it back on to a blue switch just for the Google email account you are using

->click "Done" in the upper left

It really works!

Open the Gmail app. Disable and then enable the app. The badge counter badge will then show the correct number.

Someone help fix this!!! I am having this issue. I *cannot* get rid of this notification. It is not in the gmail app, but rather in my iphone mail app. It says I have 1 unread, but I do not - and I have tried all the search tools, all the filters, and the suggestions here - there is nothing unread. HELP! I need this to go away.

I had this issue and I went to All Inboxes and found the two unread messages were in a different old gmail I don’t use anymore. If that helps even one person, posting this.

Hi, I was having the same problem and found the solution is to go to "Notification", disable and re-enable it.

Hope this works for you guys.

hello, i also had the same problem (2 emails unread), disabling and re-enabling notifications helped. you have to do it through the app, though, it does not work through the general settings on your iPhone

Same issue. 252 unread messages appear suddenly. If I go to unread messages, they are there, dating back to the year 2018, all messages that I've read before. I open all of them, they still reappear as unread. I select and delete all, again they reappear as unread.

This is really irritating.
