Can't get Outlook desktop & Google paid account connect
I got a new computer, upgrading
from Win10 to Win11.
Outlook 365 (16?) running on both computers.
I have a Google domain account. PST file on old computer looked like it was
saved in a Dropbox directory, which I know was not a good thing. So I created a
new folder in users\[my name] and called it Outlook. I pasted the .pst file
from the old computer there.
Went into new Outlook, File\Account
settings\Account settings, and told it to add a new data file. I used the pst
file in the new location.
Then I told it to use that same file for email.
Oh, BTW, using control panel, went to mail
and made certain the outlook data file was the same ... just in case. I
configured everything there according to the GMail instructions. NOTHING was
changed in Outlooks GMail settings. To the best of my knowledge, the only thing
I needed was the super secret 16 character code for the password. (I first
tried it with my "normal" password.)
Within control panel, when testing email
settings, no bueno.
My old items are all there as they were
before.
I did run scan.pst and it did say it found
some errors which I told it to fix.
When a so-called expert tried to fix it,
outlook downloaded EVERY EMAIL SITTING IN MY GMAIL "ALL MAIL"FOLDER.
I went from 282 unread messages in my Outlook inbox to over 9,000. Oh, but
although it said the messages were downloaded, NONE WERE ACTUALLY IN MY INBOX.
