Exchange support for GMail for iOS?

I use GMail for iOS for all my email accounts except for my work exchange account.  I have searched everywhere and have tried to reach out to support/feature request countless times since Gmail allowed you to add outside accounts over a year ago.  Why does every other email client work except for exchange?  Am I missing something? Is there a work around?  I hate having to use two email apps.  Especially the inferior stock ios mail app.  Please help.

Hello XSX,

Please tell us what happens when you try to add the Exchange account. At what point does it fail.

Also understand that companies use Exchange accounts for stricter control.  They may not want you adding it to external access methods.

Well, first off, there is no exchange option when you go to add a new account, like there is in the android version of GMail.  So, I have to add the account under "Other." After I put in all my credentials, it says, "Couldn't open connection to server."  I have tried every combination, changed port number , added domain after username like it does on android. Same message. As far security, I swap my sim between my iPhone and Pixel all the time.  My exchange works flawlessly in GMail for Android.

Okay, so no problem with the actual Exchange account, but iOS isn't accepting it like Android OS. Maybe Apple/Mac forum would have some answers.

Meanwhile I'll escalate to my forum colleagues for a second opinion.

Hello,

The response I got back is that this is intended behaviour. The feature is not yet supported for iPhone.
