Why iPhone mail app not receiving new emails?

I have 2 email addresses coming to my iPhone 12 using iOS 16.2.  One email comes in fine but the other stopped 2 days ago.  I do use the iPhone Mail app and I do use the 3rd party Google password.  I can get emails via webmail or through Outlook on my Mac and PC w/o issue.  This only happens on the iPhone.  I have had issues with both emails intermittently that was fixed by deleting some spam emails from inbox from webmail and then the phone receives the updates.  However, now, I have tried this and cannot get any updated emails on again, one of the email addresses.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I have spent a couple hours trying to research and fix.

Have you considered or tried any of the following suggestions?
  1. toggling the sync settings for Mail off/on several times?
  2. powering down the device and powering it back up?
  3. deleting the account from the iOS Mail app and adding it back?

I would really like to know why the iPhone, using App Passwords for 3rd party apps, has a problem yet my Outlook, on 2 other devices, don't have a problem and never have.

  1. temporary issues with the network, device or the app itself. 
  2. issues related to either the concerned Google Account or the Gmail service.
  3. cases of downloading too many emails at given point in time.

As this is a user-to-user peer-support community, we wouldn't have access to any user-specific data - accounts, device or anything else - to exactly determine what might be the reason behind the individual cases.

  1. Confident not :   My other email comes in fine and the offending address comes in fine to other devices.

  3. Confident not:  The offending email doesn't get all the spam the other one gets, by far.
