Sending emails to a large group of bcc'd email addresses?

I previously had no issues sending one email to 50+ people on bcc, but now any email with like 6+ people on bcc keeps getting rejected by gmail.

I may be in a rather unique situation in that I am not a business sending alerts, or e-flyers, or some other generic mass email. But rather someone who needs to send the same information to semi-large groups of people at a one time without them seeing other people's information or replies (in case someone hits reply all by mistake). The information sent is group specific, and the groups could be as few as 2 people, or as large as 50+ people.

Creating a "google group" is not an option either because the people in said groups are constantly changing and may not ever be in a future group ever again, so it's a hassle to maintain this.

Bcc was the easiest way to send emails to large groups of people without having to worry about anything, and without having to send 50 individual emails. This also helped my inbox so I didn't have 500 reply emails and could view one email's replies in "conversation view".

I have resorted to purchasing a mail merge product so I only have to hit "send" once and get emails to people, but it is quite annoying and really inconveniences me since I have to set up a separate mail merge for each email, each time, all with different information for each email.

What changed so suddenly? One day I was happy sending emails to people so easily, and now it's a whole procedure just because I want to bcc more than 6 people? Is there any other solution?

Outgoing e-mail is very sensitive to the appearance of being bulk or spam.  Mass (or bulk) e-mail is also very sensitive to the receivers using the “report spam” button (people tend to be lazy and just “report spam” instead of trying to unsubscribe or request removal from the list).  Gmail is NOT a bulk e-mail provider so repeatedly sending bulk messages can cause problems.  This can be seen both as a reference to an error “69585” or as having “reached a limit for sending mail”.

The following provides a lot more detail on the issue as well as a number of alternate solutions:  https://support.google.com/mail/thread/2372914

Be aware that the limits on the number of messages sent as well as any bulk/spam filtering can be extra restrictive for new accounts, or accounts with a change in typical usage.

I'm also having the same issue. Hoping this gets some attention.
Thanks!

My job is to inform the people who use the parking lots attached to the condo buildings I manage when there is going to be a snow storm and when the parking lots are going to be plowed.   I have approximately 250 people who need to get these notices.   For more than 5 years I have not had any problem sending out these emails.   Then suddenly this past winter I have been accused of being a spammer.

Sending out 250 individual emails, in order to protect everyone's privacy and avoid spreading their emails throughout the area, is vastly time consuming.   And the result of these emails being bounced back to me can lead to folks being towed away because they didn't get the message.

The people at Staples suggested that I sign up with Mailchimp.   But Mailchimp is more interested in showing me how to best sell a product, not warning folks about an impending snow storm.

New does not necessarily mean improved.   Often the opposite.

This is happening to me too.  I found this in a different post that was helpful.  https://support.google.com/mail/thread/2372914

You mean the exact same one linked in the first post above...    ;-)

There IS a VERY simple workaround.
1) in your SENT box, open the first email you sent to the bcc group
2) in top right click on 3 vertical dots for "other actions" dropdown
3) navigate down to  "Show Original", - click to open it in a new tab
4) highlight/copy the list of recipients showing under  "Bcc:", (may also use Copy to Clipboard)
5) in gmail home page, click on "Compose"
6) paste the copied list of recipients to the Bcc: address section
7) in Subject enter appropriate group title, e.g. "Joke group"
8) close the email to save it under "Drafts"
9) use this Draft to capture the group addresses each time as described above
10) leaving this "ORIGINAL Group Draft" untouched in your Drafts folder for next use.

I just want to send an email to myself and bcc it to 3-10 people.  What is the problem?  It shouldn't be this difficult.

Similar problem.  We are trying to use this to help manage our neighborhood association.  We want to send information to our neighbors on when community meetings will occur, when we're doing fund raisers for our volunteer fire department, and things of that nature.  We have 250+ neighbors, so we can't get information out, and right now there is a lot of activity with people trying to help each other.

The solution I've found that works is to add someone in the "to:" field instead of leaving everything in the bcc. You may even address the email to yourself and it should be enough to solve the issue.

Absolutely.  In fact the "standard" for this is to put your own address in the TO field (so it's NEVER empty) and everyone else in the BCC field.

I came here looking for another answer, but let me see if I can help some of you. A decade or two ago, you could easily add dozens of emails to outgoing emails. Unfortunately, in the current digital age, email spamming is just too rampant that email providers like Google and many others have had to provide a way to curtail that. So by doing that, yes, it's made it a little difficult to just send out a bulk email to a lot of people that actually DO need to receive your email.

So with that said...what most of you are describing actually fits well within the confines of an email marketing program like Mailchimp. They have a free version that (at the time of this writing) includes up to 2,000 contacts and 10,000 monthly emails, which is pretty generous. My business, Promofuse Solutions, sets this up for a ton of clients using the free version. It may seem complex when you first look at it, but really, once your contacts are imported in, sending out emails is really pretty simple. We usually set it up for a small fee, and then walk the customer through how to use it so that there are no recurring costs. We have never really had a problem with them being able to use it once they've had the walkthrough.

I'm not affiliated with Mailchimp in any way, but I appreciate software that makes certain tasks easy without requiring another monthly subscription for basic level service. I hope it helps some of you achieve what you were trying to do. Feel free to look us up if you need any help setting it up.

I read your reply and set up Mailchimp for my group of 113. I am trying to send a test message prior to sending the first real one. I addressed it to me and my husband, both are Gmail. My gmail is therefore in the to and from fields. I am not receiving the test but my husband did. Suggestions on how I can also receive the test.
