Cannot sync Exchange accounts after Android 10 Update 0 Recommended Answers 53 Replies 113 Upvotes

I have a Pixel 3 XL, which was updated to Android 10 today. I took the opportunity to factory reset it, which worked fine. Now I want to add my Exchange accounts (Office 385 and on-premise Exchange). In both cases, this does not work. I get the usual request to grant access to device security so that the Exchange admin can erase the device if neccesary. I give permission, but a second later I get a notification in the tray that I need to change the security settings. Clicking on that shows the same dialog I just came from.  Mail and contacts will not sync.
It seems to me the new security settings prevent the Exchange account to get the permissions it needs to function. Please advise!

I've seen the same issue for a colleague on a Pixel 3a today, he updated his phone yesterday. We use an on-prem exchange and it only affects his exchange through the gmail app, we have successfully made his email work without asking for a security update in Outlook app. I just updated my Pixel 3a to Android 10 this morning but I haven't seen any issues with my gmail app yet. I'm still messing around to see if I can replicate the issue on my phone.
Does the Outlook App work for you?

Same issue for me.  I suspect there's a specific security policy that is causing problems.  Do the two of you have different security policies?

Updated yesterday, everything was ok till 3 hours ago, not it keeps saying "Security Update Required"

Same here. After updating, I can no longer connect to our on premise exchange server through my Pixel 3a. Hopefully something will get fixed.

@brehm, Yes, we have the same security policies but I don't think mine have been updated yet, I suspect once they do update, I will be in the same boat. 
Try the solution from the following site, it didn't work for my co-workers phone but I was messing around with the gmail settings so much this morning before trying it but it appears to be promising, specifically for Pixels 2:
If it doesn't work, try the Outlook App untill Google fixes this bug.
