Trouble trusting certificate on iPhone. Continuous "Cannot Verify Server Identity pop-ups on iPhone. 0 Recommended Answers 178 Replies 842 Upvotes

Receiving continuous and intrusive pop-ups on my iPhone 7+ that read: "Cannot Verify Server Identity. The identity of "imap.gmail.com cannot be verified by Mail."

I spoke with a Senior Apple Advisor who explored any possible inaccurate settings, but ultimately came to the conclusion that the mail app on my iphone was having trouble trusting the certificate. I don't have any issues with my gmail accounts on my mac using Mail.

Has anyone encountered this issue? I've updated my phone, checked for any keychain errors, deleted and re-added all of my gmail accounts -- nothing has worked.

Having the same problem on my iphone 7.  Went to the genius bar at apple and they could not find the problem.  Admitted that they were baffled.

Driving me crazy!!!

I assume that no one has figured this one out yet? It's not letting me play my Google music either. And my Gboard application is acting oddly as well.

I have periodically had the same message pop up ever since the ios 13 update. I called Apple and the guy told me to restart my phone and that would fix it. It worked for about 3 days. And now it pops up every 5-10 seconds. It makes me wish I had an android.

Same! Since the iOS 13 update, this has been happening to my phone and my husband’s (both XR). We have both shut down and restarted, which briefly seemed to improve it, but not for long. It’s maddening.

I'm having the same problem.  This has been happening daily and sometimes 3 or 4 times a day.  I've deleted my gmail account on my phone and re-added it.  Nothing seems to take it away for good.

So, my cousin just had this issue with her iPhone. It took forever to figure out the issue. Turns out somehow her iPhone date setting changed to the year 2022. It had caused the system to believe that the Certificate for mail was expired. I had to turn on location services and restart the phone for the date to reload. Problem solved.
