Anyone else having a problem accessing the emails tagged as promotions in Gmail app iOS version?

Question

When I try to access the promotions section either by clicking on the emails tagged or by going through the menu tree I get this message that there is no connection but when I click back I can see emails.  Using the Apple mail client I can access the emails so it appears to be a gmail app issue.

The issue is already escalated to the team at Gmail and I am currently awaiting a word back from them. I shall post in all relevant threads once I receive a word back from the team.

THIS REALLY WORKED ! It was suggested as above by "Icantchoose" 
 click on your profile picture. Manage accounts on this device. Toggle it off. Close the app by clicking done. Open it up again and toggle it back on.  My promotion and update tabs worked again .Thank you.

This worked for me on Iphone 7 Plus and Iphone X
in Gmail press menu bars top left 
select Settings
then tap on your email address
go to Conversation view if on turn it off then back on / If off just turn it on .

For now, select 'All mail' in the 'Search in Mail' drop down.

I ended up deleting the Gmail app from my phone and adding it again from the App Store. The promotional and update emails then loaded as before.

Remove your gmail account from phone. Delete the entire gmail app. Re install then add account. This worked for me and a few others in the forum.

I have just received a word back from the Gmail team on this topic. They're suggesting a manual update of the Gmail iOS app to version 6.0.210322. 
So, please do that and post an update on whether that help resolves this for you.

I have been experiencing the same issue the past few days for Promotions tab not loading on gmail app for my iPhone 7. Incidentally, another app glitch debuting at the same time has been the Mark as Unread button not working with a single tap; it has taken two taps whereas it used to only take one tap. 
Both of these glitches in the app I was able to fix immediately by doing these two very simple things:
1) Delete the gmail app from your iPhone. Don’t just Remove from Home Screen, actually Delete it. 
2) Reinstall the gmail app to your iPhone from the App Store. 
Open the gmail app. 
Presto!
Both problems solved in three minutes flat.

Update: The second glitch with having to tap “mark as unread” icon twice has returned and is persisting. Reloading the app has not been successful on subsequent tries. Argh.

Or you can just type in category: promotions and it brings up what has come in since the BUG

One temporary solution, not the greatest, worked for me. Go into account menu (upper-left corner) in ios gmail app and choose settings/account/inbox categories and de-select the Promotions, etc. so that all mail goes into Primary. I have not tries the uninstall/install suggestions yet but may have to soon.

Deleting each account one by one, I run 3, and reinstalling them did work. I had to do this for each account, doing it for one did not work for the others. Thanks

As a workaround, please access Gmail via your mobile/desktop browser until this issue is resolved.
