1. Verify that POP is enabled

You may need to wait a few hours for POP to get authenticated on the servers.

2. Verify that your settings are correct:
a) POP server is pop.gmail.com or pop.googlemail.com
b) Password (incoming) server authentication is NOT turned on.
c) Login is your full email address, not username only.
d) Make sure Leave a copy on server is not selected in email client

3. Check if antivirus is interfering. Disable antivirus check of incoming mail.

4. POP download troubleshooter

5. Check if your ISP is blocking Gmail

@ Hritupaul... no brother.... have tried my level best by following all of the above answers but could get the solution... i think its a bug in windows or some security protocol which is blocking the pop service.... but its a windows problem.....that for sure.If u find some solution please inform me 2.

I have the same error, host not found, but I can ping pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com and googlemail servers.  Live Mail just won't connect and neither can Eudora Mail...
