My community Collage uses gmail ( @my.chemeketa.edu) now I am having problems with mail cliant(Live Mail)

My community collage uses gmail for it's students ( l--...@my.chemeketa.edu). Recently it was set up so we can access it from the browser also. We use to have to access it through the Chemeketa web site. I also have a personal Gmail account. Now when I access my personal mail with my mail client ((Live mail) Like Outlook or Thunderbird) I get an error message saying it could not access the second gmail account. How do I fix this problem. I cannot get any of my Gmail with my mail client now.

operating system: windows 7 professional 64 bit
Program and version used use to access Gmail  Internet Explorer 9? (the newest one) Windows Live Mail
Anti virus software: complete Internet security package
Extensions, toolbars or plug-ins:Basic

I use fire Fox most of the time. The computer uses IE as its default browser. How the computer accesses the server for the gmail I don't know.
