How do I disable the pop up blocker?

Explain your issue in full detail here:

I cannot open my messages. I only have this problem on my gmail service. It started a couple days ago. I don't know how to disable the pop up blocker. I never enabled it to begin with. I ask for help and I just get the same questions, no answers. Not much of a help menu. I have Windows Vista and verizon security.

I have the same problem which just started all of a sudden a few days ago, too.  I cannot find any answer in the Gmail Help section.  Every link in every email is disabled, and I get the "Grrr - a pop up blocker may be preventing Gmail from opening the page.  If you have a pop up blocker, try disabling it to open the window.  I never enabled any Gmail pop up blocker and I don't know how to disable one.  GRRRR!!

WinXP, IE8, AVG Antivirus Free version.

I don't know how to disable the popup blocker but I found a temporary solution. If you go to the bottom of the page and change standard view to HTML view, then you'll be able to open up any link.

Hi there,

By default, in Internet Explorer, Pop-up Blocker is enabled. Microsoft Support provides the following instructions to turn off Pop-up Blocker. Note that these instructions might vary based on the version of IE you are currently using.

Disable Pop-up Blocker:
  1. Open Internet Explorer, and then click Tools > Internet Options to open the Internet Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Privacy tab under Pop-up Blocker, and then do either of the following:
    • Click to select Block pop-ups to turn Pop-up Blocker on.
    • Click to clear Block pop-ups to turn Pop-up Blocker off.

You can disable the Google Pop-up Blocker by following the below instructions:
  1. Click on the Google logo on the Google toolbar and select Options.
  2. Uncheck Popup Blocker, and then click OK.

You should also be able to resolve this issue by updating your browser's security and privacy settings for http://mail.google.com/.
  1. Open Internet Explorer, and then click Tools > Internet Options to open the Internet Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Security tab > Trusted Sites > Sites.
  3. Add http://mail.google.com/ as a trusted or allowed site.

Best,
Jordan
