Mass Delete eMail

How can I delete ALL the email under the Promotion tab?

I know I can delete them 20 at a time. I have over 5000. Is there any way to delete ALL the email under a given tab?

Thanks :)

As best as I can tell, you can only delete one page at a time while viewing the tabs (although you can have a larger page size than 20).

If you click on the category name from the left column, then it act more normal letting you select the page, then everything with that name.

The quickest solution was to change the view to 100 emails and delete all on the page. Cut down the number of clicks. But ~5100 junk mail is now history.

But ~5100 junk mail is now history.

If it was truly junk, perhaps you should have used "report spam" instead and try to teach the Gmail spam filters to catch more of it.

Steps I took to delete everything under promotions.
1. On the left where your inbox is listed there will be a button that says "More"; select it and then click on "All Mail"
2. In the search box type category:promotions and then click on the search magnifier box.
3. Click on the check box to select everything you see on the page. Once you do this you should see an alert that says "Select all conversations that match this search". Click on that to select everything in the category you searched for.
4. Hit delete

Everything should now be removed. Remember that everything is now in your trash so if you truly want everything removed you'll need to empty your trash as well.
I hope this helps out.

you can actually skip step 1

just  type "category:promotions" in the search
