Google userHow can I import a Google takeout file?
Please do not direct me to the takeout help page it says nothing about import.
I am moving from one account to another. Takeout should do this. I have exported everything.
Now how do I import the takeout archive into a new account. Help goes into great detail on export, but says NOTHING about how to get the archived data into the new account. The UI for archive gives no hint about how to do this. One would expect a simple restore function or import.

bkc56...but says NOTHING about how to get the archived data into the new account.
This is because Google Takeout is NOT a backup/restore utility, it is only an exporter for the data.
Fortunately, the following Gmail backup/restore utility was recently enhanced to support the Google Takeout e-mail file so you can import the data to a different account.
http://code.google.com/p/got-your-back/ - free Gmail backup/restore utility, currently command-line only

Google userOh well that is the Google world for you. Of course all of the other data in that Takeout file, like circles, photos etc have to reloaded piecemeal provided someone at Google remembered to code that feature. Is half a solution really better than none? Maybe. Where is IBM or Burroughs when you need them?

Not in my option. But at least there is a way to import them now.
