How can I fix this script error?

Whenever I log into my g-mail account, a script error occurs of 'stop running this script?' (see attachment) and clicking 'no' will let it continue logging in, but then freeze my web browser shortly after. And clicking 'yes' will just stop the login process completely. I've tried using another computer but the same error pops up, and even setting advanced internet options to defaults as well as enabling/disabling script debugging seems to have no effect.

Although using Firefox to login works, I'd rather use Internet Explorer as my main browser. Any ideas or fixes?

Many people have reported problems with IE8 and IE9.  You need to disabling the Compatibility Mode:  http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=181472.  Google.com is usually not listed so for some people adding google.com and then disabling it works.  The fix will not work unless you also uncheck the 3 options at the bottom: "Include Updated Website lists from Microsoft," "Display intranet sites in Compatibility view" and "Display all websites in Compatibility view."  After making the changes restart the browser.
