Changed login more difficult

This new login procedure is driving me nuts.  I used to be able to enter my login name by entering the first letter and then it would come up with my login name, then enter password.  Sometimes it would bypass all that and just log me straight in.   Now I have to enter all my login name and password to get emails.  Sometimes it bypasses that and goes straight to emails sometimes not.

Can someone please tell be how I  configure my settings to automatically log me into emails without having to enter all my details every time and why does it now do this sometimes but is not consistent.

Many thanks for any help offered

I totally hate the "new"look as well. Dam google idiots can't help themselves, they want to change the entire world. Give me back the old login but change one thing - allow us to enter both the login name and the password on one page, why you did this on two screens is beyond comprehension. Obviously you people do not use Google yoursevles. You probably use MSN. What absolute login garbage, totally stupid and repugnant.

Google you have not made things faster .All your expertise has made it slower.  I think that it is time to choose an alternative .

Hello Robert,Yeoshi, Sanclu,

Thanks for posting on the Gmail Help Forum.

We wouldn't want you to go through this experience. I would like you to know that the page to sign in to your Google Account looks a little different but still works the same way. I'd suggest you check this help article to learn about the new Google sign-in page for further assistance.

In addition, you can share your thoughts by giving feedback. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open the Gmail app.

  2. On the left, tap the Menu icon

  3. Scroll down, then tap Help & Feedback > Send feedback.

We value your feedback. Sending in-product feedback allows Google to automatically collect useful information that will allow our Engineers to evaluate each case-by-case issue. Although you will not receive a reply, we're using this feedback to fix and improve the overall product experience.

Take care.

Best,

Sarah

The Google response is friendly but as always quite useless. Google will not give us back the old login page, they simply do not care about users. So frustrating to deal with you people. BT"W how is your relationship with the FBI, CIA and NSA these days, are they still paying you for the inforamtion they want. The STAZI watching everything. Orsono Wells in his 1984 never imagined such totalitarian surveillance by the US police state. Do not doubt it, the US is the biggest terrorist organization, totall illegal, in the world. Trump is just another mouthpiece for the billionnaire elite

My sincere apology to Yeoshi Yamamoto, but I think you have been fed a line of crap here.  That is obviously a new style of canned response this contract worker wrote, or somebody wrote for the worker.

Why do I write that, you may ask?

Here:

You will see that for another problem another customer has/had the contract worker used the same post with a different name addressing the post to.

The Gmail engineers don't have that many teams that we can start addressing them all as "another team" and the reason I am posting here is so that the Community Manager will put a halt to this crap!!

A lot of people are having this issue.

This is extremely frustrating how this piece of trash was put out there with insufficient testing, even with Google's own browser. My work managing G Suite accounts is slowed significantly.

And by the way, Yeoshi, George Orwell wrote 1984, not "Orsono (sic) Wells".

You just triggered a thought process when I read that "insufficient testing" in your post JXTW.

It hit me that we are the testing. We are saving the company money by finding these problems and using the feedback tool to report them, and/or posting on the forum here.

Now if we could band together and file a class action to get a judge to demand the necessary files to prove that we are the testers/laboratory workers, we might be able to cause a slight change in what society is allowing these companies to get away with.

You see, I think we are partly to blame for this, because we didn't complain properly back a bit when this system started of just throwing the product out there to allow the customer to do the testing.

Oh yes, and we get hit with that bit that we are not "customers" because it is "free" which is hogwash -- and I am not sure even the hogs will eat that.

It takes me back many years to television. We bought the TV set and I do not ever remember a broadcaster being able to tell the public that what the broadcaster was putting on the viewer's television was free, so the viewer just had to put up with anything at all and shut up about complaints. In fact, the governments around the world took a keen interest in that broadcasting business and regulated that stuff. You know why? Because the lawmakers understood what it was. And the family members of the lawmaker were also telling the lawmaker to do this or that. The problem we have in this industry is that in the days of the first decade of this century many of the important lawmakers didn't understand a bloody thing about the business and let these companies do whatever they wanted. Now the situation is out of control.

Yes, this is a different industry that grew up as a different tree, but the idea that Google gave us this email product out of the kindness of their so sweet hearts and expected to make no money from the email product is kind of like that lady that somebody gave the name Sleeping Beauty to -- a fantasy. Google offered this email product to us because they knew bloody well they could make bunches of them little green things called dollars. Then pounds. Then yen. And more and more. But we are not supposed to be called customers, are we?

Anyway, we have become the testers. That is the bottom line. But if we get together and get some help from the courts and/or the lawmakers that bottom line doesn't have to be the last line.
Were these replies helpful?
How can we improve them?
