How Do I Access Delegate Email Account?

I don't see any Help Topic for this, and the messages I've found thus far are completely unclear.

If you get a notice that you're being delegated to, how do you access that mail, SPECIFICALLY?

From what I can tell, you:

1. Click on your icon in the top right of your mail.

2. Click on Add Account.

3. Enter the name of the email account you're a delegate of.

4. Enter . . . WHAT password? The regular password that you logged into your OWN account with? Or some other password? I've tried this with my own, regular password, but it keeps telling me it's the wrong password. I've double-checked the password and it's correct. So what gives?

Hi there,

To access delegated account please follow steps below:

1. Click on the image or initial icon at the top right corner of your screen
2. In the drop-down menu that appears, once the mailbox has been delegated you will see the mailbox listed with (delegated) after the email address. Click on the delegated account (note: If you have a lot of shared mailboxes, you may need to use the scrollbar on the right to view them all).
3. The shared/delegated account will open in a new tab or window. It will look just like another inbox but will NOT include:
  • Chat
  • Calendar, Docs/Drive, Sites (calendars are delegated separately and will be accessed through My Calendars or Other Calendars in your Google Calendar view)
  • Labs
  • Access to account settings
  • Themes

Note: Once you have been added as delegate it may take up to 24 hours for delegated account to appear below your primary account.

Best,

Johnny..

Hmm, I accepted the delegation several hours ago, and still nothing shows up. I just did it again; maybe it just didn't take or something?
Thanks, btw, appreciate the help. How come what you wrote right there isn't in the Google Help docs?

Hi there,

You said that you accepted it few hours ago. Sometimes it takes up to 24 hours for delegated account to appear. Google Help articles doesn't contain all information, that's why we are here to help. Experienced users recognized by Google and badged as Rising Stars, Top Contributors, etc.

Best,
Johnny..

Ah, okay, thanks. That clears that up, at least for the moment. I'll leave it until tomorrow, then. I read somewhere it takes like 30 minutes, so I figured 3 or 4 hours ought to do it, but alas, not.

And thank the Four Deities for you guys. Google needs to literally put what you wrote on the help page, so you don't keep having to type it out (I hope you're cutting and pasting, at least!) over and over!

I'll check back tomorrow afternoon.
