Gmail not syncing on Android

Gmail is not syncing on my Android phone. I did all of the troubleshooting tips, none worked. Is the server down? What else can I do?

So what were the steps you tried?
Does the internet work on your phone?

Internet is connected on the phone and works fine on all apps that use internet except the Gmail app. Say there is no connection, when clearly there is. I tried rebooting the phone, turning off wifi, turning wifi back on, signing out of gmail and signing back in, and manually syncing. None of this worked. The app still says no connection. Perhaps the servers are down? Gmail is working fine on the computer.

Have you changed your password recently?

I have the same issue and what I tried was resetting the password on my desktop because the password had been stolen and changed and my sync issue is no more. So again change password on desktop>restart device>type new password in on device and sync should work.
Side note: If this happens again check your gmail recent activity on a desktop or other device and see if those places are NOT where you been that means your pword has been compromised and once changed should fix the problem.
Happy fixin

Mine is doing the same. I can access Gmail fine if I go through chrome, but the Gmail app just sits there. A few times it had said "no connection". I've tried all the other troubleshooting suggestions.

Add me to the list. This has been happening since 4.4.3 hit and it's quite annoying.

No I haven't changed my password recently.

Steps I've tried.

Deleting GMAIL data.
Deleting Google Account.
Wifi On/Off
Reboot Phone
Clear Cache
I rolled back to the stock GMAIL app and everything worked perfectly. The current version is bugged. I'll receive an email, check it, delete it then go to trash "No Connection - Retry", check Spam "No Connection - Retry". Email is definitely on the server, because I have to check my email through Chrome.

Happens on both my Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.4

GMAIL App version 4.8 (Build 1167183)

Will be rolling back to stock GMAIL until this can be resolved.

@Tracy Gossett:

As far as I remember, I didn't tell you what to do in your free time and how to do it and I didn't attack you in any way.
You will not be seeing me in this discussion any more.
