Had my gmail account been hacked?

I received an email one hour ago(see below), where someone represents someone's name, xxx...@gmail.com is my email, yyyyyy@gmail represents the newly created email account.

The problem is that I did not create any new account, why gmail sent me an email and notified me that I created an new email account yyy...@gmail.com? Is mail-noreply@gmail really from Gmail Team? I logged of my gmail account xxx...@gmail.com, and tried to log back in again, and found that my password did not work, so I had to change the password according to my security question.

Had my gmail been hacked? Is it safe to continue to use the gmail account?

Thank you.(I need to delete some text from original email since the text limit size in the question)

The same thing happened to me yesterday but before they could change my password I realized I had been hacked. Several people received the message below and it wasn't just my account. The IP tracking details showed someone from China got into my account and then sent this garbage spam message to my contacts A-D. The rest of my contacts have disappeared and this hacker also set up my vacation auto responder with the same stupid spam/phishing email message to go out to any incoming emails I received. They erased my signature as well. This is very widespread and gmail needs to react and do something about this!! Please help asap and someone connected to gmail/google support contact me asap!! We all need help to get this resolved.

Dear friend:

I would like to submit a good store that sells all kinds of
electronic products:

mobile phones, portable computers, TV, camera, etc..

I bought a bicycle there. It 'very nice and at a lower price. I think
it is reliable and

competitive, with excellent quality and reasonable prices. There is a
possibility.

My account also seems to have been hacked.

Yesterday I luckily got a notice from a friend that someone was sending emails from my email address.  However I did not figure out until just now that they had also changed my signature and put on my vacation responder, so anyone who emailed me was getting this spam email!!!!!

Yikes!

I changed my password.  I will also change my security question.  I am also planning on reporting to local police.  Anything I can do?  Any help from google?

Message that was sent to my contacts pasted below.

I was in a meeting and got several texts asking if I had sent out an email saying Merry Christmas.  This is what had been sent out.

Do I need to get a new gmail account?  I changed my password to a much stronger password, but I already had a strong one to begin with.  Is there anything else that I need to do?  Here is a copy of the email.  Thankfully most of my contacts know my grammar and spelling are decent and saw it was a virus.
