Hi mzink92,

If you enter your recover email as exa...@yahoomail.com you will never receive verification code because Yahoo is exa...@yahoo.com email provider, not exa...@yahoomail.com. Try it yourself, try to login into your Yahoo account with exa...@yahoomail.com and you will get error message "Sorry, we don't recognize this email."

Hi mzink92,

Thanks for writing back, glad to hear you recovered your account. I suggest to follow steps below to learn how to secure your account:

1. Gmail security checkup
2. Make your Google Account more secure

Please consider to enable 2-Step Verification (also known as two-factor authentication), with 2-Step Verification you add an extra layer of security to your account. You sign in with something you know (your password) and something you have (a code sent to your phone). Also this extra layer of security can help keep bad guys out, even if they have your password.
Note: Keep on mind that you should update your recovery options and write it down and store it somewhere just in case if you forgot it again.
