Check spelling and grammar
Important:
- Suggestions are based on your text, and don't represent Google's views.
- Spelling and grammar checks in Gmail may not be available in all languages.
As you type, Gmail checks your text automatically for mistakes, and underlines words or phrases that need corrections.
- To view the suggestion, click the underlined word or phrase in your draft.
- To accept the suggestion, click it.
- Or, to dismiss it, click Ignore

Tips:
- For commonly misspelled words, Gmail corrects them automatically.
- To undo a change:
- On Windows: Press Ctrl + Z.
- On Mac: Press Cmd + Z.
- On screen readers:
- To find underlined words, use your arrow keys.

Change settings for grammar, spelling and auto-correct
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top right, click Settings

- At the top, click General.
- Update your settings for grammar, spelling and auto-correct:
- Turn Grammar suggestions on or off.
- Turn Spelling suggestions on or off.
- Turn auto-correct on or off.
