Fix spelling & grammar as you type in Gmail

You can get Gmail to check the spelling and grammar of your emails as you write.

1. On your computer, open Google Gmail. 
2. Click Settings   Settings.
3. At the top, click General.
4. Turn the following tools on or off:

• Grammar
• Spelling 
• Auto-correct

Tip: A dashed line will temporarily appear in blue for grammar or red for spelling suggestions. To undo a change, click the underlined word  Undo. 

Important: Not available in all languages.

Use Auto-correct with a screen reader

You can still use Auto-correct with a screen reader. To undo a change, use your arrow keys to find the underlined word, press Tab  Enter.
