Error messages like “Temporary Error” or “Oops” mean that there’s an intermittent issue with Gmail. This article helps you solve the problem.
Before you begin
- To check if there’s an outage with Gmail, open the Google Workspace Status Dashboard.
- If you have trouble when you use your browser with Gmail, update your browser or try another one. Learn about supported browsers.
"Temporary Error (502)"
- If you sign in to Gmail and get a "Temporary Error (502)” message, Gmail is temporarily unavailable.
- Even though you can't sign in for the moment, your messages and personal information are still safe.
- This error usually resolves itself quickly. To check if the issue is fixed, sign in again in a few minutes.
"No connection"
- If you get a "No connection" error message:
- Check your internet connection.
- Restart your device.
- Turn off your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, then turn it back on.
- Connect to another network.
- If you still have connectivity issues after you complete these steps, contact your service provider or your Wi-Fi network host.
- Close and reopen your browser.
- If you’re on Android, iPhone, or iPad: Close and reopen the Gmail app.
- Sign out, then sign in again.
- If you use the Gmail app for Android or iPhone and iPad, you can’t sign out of the app. You can only remove your Google Account, then add it again. Learn how to sign out of Gmail.
"Oops" or “Bad Request”
These errors often indicate a problem with your browser settings:
- "Bad Request: Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request"
- "Oops" (602, 500, 102, 009, 103)
- Check your browser extensions or applications.
- Some extensions or add-ons on your browser or applications may cause Gmail to not work.
- Turn off extensions and uninstall applications one by one.
- To check if it solves the problem, open Gmail again.
- If available, turn on your browser’s incognito or private browsing mode.
- Clear your browser’s data.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Open Gmail again.
- Check your Gmail Advanced settings.
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings
See all settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Next to any features you have enabled, select Disable.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
