Supported browsers

You can access Gmail on your computer through Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. On a mobile device, make sure your browser meets these minimum requirements.

Browser versions

In general, Gmail supports the current and prior major release of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. If you use a browser other than those, you'll be automatically directed to the basic HTML view of Gmail.

Download Google Chrome
Download Firefox
Download Internet Explorer
Download Safari

Note that Internet Explorer does not support desktop notifications, and Gmail Offline only works for Google Chrome.

If you're using a supported browser but see a message in Gmail that your browser is unsupported, you may be using an extension that interferes with browser detection. Try turning off your browser extensions to solve the problem.

Turn on cookies and JavaScript

With any browser, cookies need to be turned on to use Gmail. Also, if your browser supports it, enable JavaScript. Search on Google for instructions on how to turn on cookies and JavaScript for your browser.
