Get Gmail features for your other email accounts

If you have a Yahoo, AOL, Outlook, Hotmail, or select non-Gmail accounts, use Gmailify to get many of Gmail's features with that address.

To do this, link your account to Gmail. After you link your account, you can find your messages in your Gmail inbox, plus these features:

Spam protection
Better mail notifications on mobile
Automatic email sorting based on type (Social, Updates, Promotions)
Faster search, with advanced search operators

Link your address to Gmail

Important: Make sure you've already added another account from Yahoo, AOL, Outlook, Hotmail, or other service to read in Gmail. Learn how to add an account to the Gmail app.

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
At the top right, tap your profile picture.
Tap Add another account.
Choose the type of account you want to add.
- If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, choose Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
- If you don't find your email service, choose Other.
To add your account, follow the steps on the screen.
Tap Try Gmailify.

After you link your other address to Gmail, your messages are available in the Gmail app and on the web at mail.google.com. You can read, reply to, and organize those messages just like you do in Gmail.

Tip: To view your linked account under Gmailify:

At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
Under "Account," tap Gmailify.
Under “Linked account," find the account.

Unlink your address

Important: After you unlink your accounts, Gmail stops showing you new messages from your other account.

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
Under "Account," tap Gmailify Unlink Unlink.

Gmail might organize your messages differently from other email services.

Empty trash limit

Messages in your "Trash" aren't deleted according to Gmail's 30-day limit, but according to the "Empty trash" limit of your other mail service.

For example, if your other email service keeps a message in "Trash" for 60 days before permanently deleting it, you'll see the message in Gmail "Trash" for 60 days.

Archived emails

When you archive an email in Gmail, it’s stored in a new "Archive" folder in your other email service.

Labels and folders

When you add a label to a message, it's stored in a folder with that label name in your other email account. For example, if you added a "Work" label to a message in Gmail, you can find the message in a folder called "Work" in your other email account.

If you add multiple labels to a message, it creates multiple folders that each have a copy of the message in your other email account.

Tip: If you have limited storage space in your non-Gmail account, don't add multiple labels to your messages in Gmail.
