Fix security warnings
Important: If you use an unsecured connection to add your account, your connection to your email service isn't encrypted. This means that someone could find the username, password, or message information of your added account.
When your other email account doesn’t support the highest level of security for your messages, you can get an “Email security not guaranteed” warning.
If the issue isn't severe, you have the option to add your account with an unsecured connection:
- Open the Gmail app .
- Next to “Security type,” select the Down arrow None.
Fix certificate errors
If you receive an error message about a certificate, it’s possible that your other email service doesn’t support a secure connection. Examples of certificate error messages include:
- "Certificate not trusted"
- "Certificate expired or not yet valid"
- "Certificate has been changed"
- "Certificate subject and hostname mismatch"
- "Certificate not found"
To help fix the error, you can report it to your other email service:
- In the error message, tap More info.
- At the top right, tap More Share.
- If needed, you must search for the contact information of your other email service.
