We've gotten reports about some users being signed out of their accounts unexpectedly. We're investigating, but not to worry: there is no indication that this is connected to any phishing or account security threats. Please try to sign-in again at accounts.google.com and if you cannot remember your password, please use this link to recover your password. If you use 2-Step Verification, there may have been a delay in receiving your SMS code. Please try again or use backup codes.

Buttons in your Gmail toolbar

When you select an email, you'll see buttons under the search box that let you take action on your messages. For example, you can use the buttons to delete a message or mark it as spam.

What the button icons & symbols mean

Archive : Archive the message

Report spam : Report the message as spam

Delete : Delete the message

Move to : Move the message to a folder

Label : Add or remove a label

Change your buttons to text instead of icons

You can change your buttons so that they show the name of the button instead of an icon.

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Scroll down to the "Button labels" section.
  5. Select Text.
  6. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
