Use Smart Reply in Gmail

To respond quickly to emails in your inbox, you can turn on Smart Reply. When Smart Reply is on, you can find short, suggested quick replies at the bottom of some messages.

What you need

• Use a supported language: Smart Reply is available in:
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
• Turn on smart features in your Gmail settings:
  1. Open Gmail.
  2. At the top right, click Settings  See all settings.
  3. Under the "General" tab, scroll down to "Smart features."
  4. Check the box next to "Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet."
  5. Click Save Changes.

Turn on Smart Reply

1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
2. At the top right, click Settings See all settings.
3. Click the General tab.
4. Next to "Smart Reply," select Smart Reply on.
5. At the bottom, click Save Changes.

Tip: To reply, select a suggestion below the message. You can edit the suggestion before you reply.

If you have Gemini in Gmail, you also have access to Suggested Replies. Here’s how the two features differ:
