I can't import contacts

There are a few reasons you may have problems importing your contacts:

  • You're importing more than 3,000 contacts at a time. If you have more than 3,000 contacts, split them into multiple CSVs before you import them.
  • You reached the size or storage limit for Google Contacts.
  • You're importing information formatted as a group or distribution list in other email providers, which won't transfer into Google Contacts.
  • You're importing information for a contact that's already in your Google Contacts. Instead of creating a new contact for them, the imported information will replace the existing information.
  • Your import file has non-Latin or ASCII characters.
