If you’re short on time or need to find the right words, Gemini in Gmail can review an email that you receive and suggest a relevant response. With Suggested Replies, you get a personalized message that matches the tone and style of your past written emails.
What you need
Important: Even if you meet the requirements, a suggested reply may not always be available.
To get a suggested reply, make sure:
- Workspace smart features are on in your Gmail settings. Learn more about smart features.
- Your Google Account language is set to English. Learn how to change your language.
Select a suggested reply
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app

- Open an email.
- At the bottom of the email, tap a suggested reply.
- Before you send a response, you can edit it.
- Tap Send

Important:
- Suggested replies with personalization are available in English.
- Personalization in suggested replies is available as part of Gemini Alpha, which is available for work accounts, not personal accounts. If you use a work account, your administrator controls access to Gemini Alpha. If you can't find this feature, your administrator may not have Alpha features enabled for your organization.
To improve your response, Suggested Replies use details from your emails and Drive files, such as flight times, soccer schedules, or hotel booking codes. Gmail drafts a personalized response with relevant details and matches your tone and style.
Tip: To find the emails and documents Gemini uses, select Sources above a suggestion. You can't edit the list of sources.
Give feedback about a suggested reply
Google Workspace with Gemini is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request.
If you get a suggestion that’s inaccurate or that you feel is unsafe, you can submit feedback.
- At the bottom of the compose window, swipe right on the suggested replies.
- Tap Send feedback

- Follow the on-screen instructions.
