Subscribe to Looker Studio Pro

Looker Studio Pro subscription overview

Looker Studio Pro is available for as a self-service upgrade for Google Workspace or Cloud Identity organizations. A Looker Studio Pro subscription gives users in your organization all the features of the no-cost version of Looker Studio, plus the enhanced enterprise capabilities of Looker Studio Pro. A Looker Studio Pro subscription also allows access to technical help and support.

A self-service Looker Studio Pro subscription is based on individual user licenses. You can buy as many Pro licenses as you need and assign them to individual users or to teams of users in your organization. You'll be billed monthly for the number of Pro licenses in the subscription, regardless of whether or not those licenses are used.

More about Looker Studio Pro subscription models
The self-service individual license subscription model is sometimes referred to as a "named user/departmental subscription" model because you can assign licenses to specific users or to a department or team email alias to enable everyone on that team to use Looker Studio Pro.

Looker Studio Pro was originally launched using a "whole organization, active user" subscription model. Under this model, everyone in a subscribed organization can use Looker Studio Pro. Billing is based on the number of monthly active users of Looker Studio Pro. Whole organization, active user subscriptions are not available using the self-service process that is described in this article and are only available for large organizations. For questions, talk to a Google Cloud sales specialist.

Subscription process overview

Subscribing to Looker Studio Pro involves the following steps:

1Select a Google Cloud project to use with Looker Studio Pro

Looker Studio Pro content lives in a Google Cloud project that is owned and managed by your organization. We recommend that you select or create a new project that is dedicated to Looker Studio Pro. This makes it easier to restrict access to the project and helps prevent accidental deletion of your Looker Studio Pro content.

2Add people to your Looker Studio Pro subscription

You can assign Looker Studio Pro licenses to specific users and to Google Groups. Using Google Groups is a convenient way to provide Looker Studio Pro to teams and departments in your organization.

3Buy additional Looker Studio Pro licenses

If your organization is growing, you can buy additional licenses and assign them to new users as needed. You can do this when you first subscribe to Looker Studio Pro, and you can buy more licenses later.
