Stop sharing your reports and data sources

After you share a Looker Studio asset (a report or data source), you can stop sharing it at any time. If you are the owner of the asset, you can also prevent someone you’ve shared with from:

• Sharing the asset with others.
• Changing access permissions for other people or groups.
• Copying or printing the report or data source.
• Exporting data from the charts in the report.

Stop sharing a report or data source

If you share a report or data source with people, the owner or anyone with edit access can change the sharing settings for the item.

Stop sharing an asset directly

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More .
5. Click Share.
6. At the top, click Manage Access.
7. Click the menu to the right of the person you want to stop sharing with, then click Remove .
8. Click Save.

Google Workspace user? Try this instead:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More .
5. Click Share.
6. At the bottom right of the "Share with others" window, click Advanced.
7. Next to the person you want to stop sharing with, click Remove .
8. Click Save changes.

Stop sharing a link to an asset

When you stop sharing a link to an asset, the only people who can still see the asset will be you and people whose names or email addresses you share with.

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More .
5. Click Share.
6. At the top, click Manage Access.
7. Use the menu in the top right to set the link sharing option to "Off - only specific people can access."

Google Workspace user? Try this instead:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More
5. Click Share.
6. Next to "Anyone with the link," click the Down arrow .
7. Click More...
8. Click the circle next to "Off - Specific people."
9. Click Save.
10. Click Done.

Delete a shared asset

If you remove a shared asset that you own:

• People who can view or edit the asset can make a copy until you permanently delete it.
• To permanently delete the asset, click the asset in your trash, and click Delete .

If you remove or delete a shared asset that you don’t own:

• The asset will be removed from your lists in Looker Studio, but other people can still access it.

Prevent others from sharing your assets

Don’t let people download, print, or copy your asset

Admins can override this setting in the Download Controls section of the Google Admin console.

By default, people who can edit your shared assets can:

• Share the asset with others.
• Add or remove specific people.
• Copy, print, or download the asset.

To prevent editors and viewers from downloading, printing, or copying your asset:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More
5. Click Share.
6. At the top, click Manage Access.
7. In the bottom, check the box next to "Disable options to download, print, and copy for viewers."
8. Click Save.

Google Workspace user? Try this instead:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to protect.
4. On the right, click More
5. Click Share.
6. In the bottom right, click Advanced.
7. Check the box next to "Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers."
8. Click Save changes.
9. Click Done.

Prevent others from sharing your assets

If you’re sharing an asset, the owner or anyone with edit access can change the sharing settings for the asset. To make it so only you can share:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to stop sharing.
4. On the right, click More
5. Click Share.
6. At the top, click Manage Access.
7. In the bottom, check the box next to "Prevent editors from changing access and adding new people."
8. Click Save.

Google Workspace user? Try this instead:

1. Sign in to Looker Studio.
2. At the top, select Reports or Data Sources.
3. Browse or search for the asset whose link you want to delete.
4. On the right, click
5. Click Share.
6. In the bottom right, click Advanced.
7. Check the box next to "Prevent editors from changing access and adding new people."
8. Click Save changes.
9. Click Done.
