How to use Looker Studio

Rename reports, data sources, explorations, and blends

By default, when you create an asset -- reports, data sources, exploration, or blends - they are named "Untitled <thingy>". You can rename your Looker Studio assets to something more useful.

Rename from the home page

To rename an asset from the Looker Studio home page:

  1. Select Reports, Data Sources, or Explorers to locate the asset.
  2. Hover over the asset to reveal the More options More options. menu and then click Rename.

On the Looker Studio home page, a user hovers their cursor over a report name in the reports list to access the inline More options three-dot menu for the report.

Rename by editing the report or data source

An asset's name appears in the upper left corner when you view the asset. To rename the asset:

  1. Edit the report or data source.
  2. In the upper left, click the current name and enter a better one.
Renaming an exploration works similarly to renaming a report. To rename a blend, edit the report that contains the blend, then use the Resource > Manage blends menu to edit the blend.
