About Business Associate Agreements for medical Local Services providers

Ensuring that your data is safe, secure, and always available to you is one of our top priorities. For advertisers who are subject to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Local Services Ads can support HIPAA compliance.

Under HIPAA, certain information about a person’s health or health care services is classified as Protected Health Information (PHI). Local Services providers who are subject to HIPAA and want to use Local Services Ads must review and accept a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Google.

Advertisers are responsible for determining whether they’re subject to HIPAA requirements and whether they use or intend to use Local Services Ads. Health-vertical advertisers who haven’t signed a BAA with Google can’t use Local Services Ads.
