About Local Guides

Local Guides is a global community of explorers who write reviews, share photos, answer questions, add or edit places, and check facts on Google Maps. Millions of people rely on contributions from Local Guides to decide where to go, what to do, and how to get there. When a Local Guide reviews, photographs, adds, edits, or provides info on Google Maps, they earn points.

Who can be a Local Guide

Local Guides is offered everywhere Google Maps is available. At this time, Google Maps is available in more than 40 countries and languages.

The Local Guides program is for individuals, not businesses. Contributions from businesses or business pages won’t count toward Local Guides levels or benefits. To participate in Local Guides, you must meet the age requirements for your country. For more information, review the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions.

Tip: It may take up to 9 weeks after you turn 18 for your Google account to update.
