Important update: Local Guides Help support articles will be migrating to the Google Maps Help Center in the coming months.

Mark a place reopened or closed on Google Maps

Important: You can only edit business attributes in select countries and regions.

If you’re familiar with a place, you can provide feedback. Feedback helps Google Maps decide whether to change a place's operating status.

You can mark a place as:

  • Temporarily closed
  • Permanently closed
  • Doesn’t exist here
  • Duplicate of another place
  • Offensive, harmful, or misleading
  • Not open to the public
  • Moved to a new location
  • Reopened (if it’s shown as closed)

Do not mark a place open or closed based on its hours. Closure refers to whether or not a place is still open for business.

Tips:

Mark a place as moved

  1.  Open Google Maps Maps.
  2. Search for a place or select it on the map.
  3. Select Suggest an edit and then Close or remove.
  4. Under "Close or remove," select Moved to a different location and then Submit.
Tip: If you think something should be removed for legal reasons, submit a legal request.

Mark a place as a duplicate

  1. Open Google Maps Maps.
  2. Search for a place or select it on the map.
  3. Select Suggest an edit and then Close or remove.
  4. Under "Close or remove," select Duplicate of another place and then Submit.

Mark a place as non-existent

If Google Maps shows a place that was never at that location, mark it as non-existent.

  1. Open Google Maps Maps.

  3. Select Suggest an edit and then Close or remove.
  4. Under "Close or remove," select Doesn't exist here and then Submit.

  2. Search for a place or select it on the map.
  3. Select Suggest an edit and then Close or remove.
  4. Under "Close or remove," select Temporarily closed and then Submit.

Mark a place as permanently closed

  3. Select Suggest an edit and then Reopen and then Submit.

Wait time to publish corrections

We review your edits, so your changes might take some time to be updated on the map.
