Update your Google knowledge panel

This article explains how to update the stats that appear about your entity in the knowledge panel after you have been verified.

Once you’re verified as an official representative, use the Suggest an edit option in the knowledge panel to ensure that your data is accurate. All information published in knowledge panel cards is subject to Google's policies and user feedback.

How to suggest a change

To make changes to your entity's knowledge panel, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to Google Search.
  2. Sign in to the Google account associated with the entity that you represent.
  3. Check that your Web & App Activity is turned on.
  4. Search for your entity on Google and find its knowledge panel. Ensure that you see your entity’s name at the top of the knowledge panel.
  5. At the top of the knowledge panel, click Suggest an edit. If you don’t see this option, Google doesn’t recognise your Google account as a verified representative of the entity. Follow these steps to get verified.
  6. Click the information that you want to change. For multiple suggestions, submit feedback for each item separately.
  7. In the response box that opens, write a short description that includes the following:
    1. Clearly state your suggested change.
    2. Explain why your suggestion is correct and should replace the existing content.
    3. Include a publicly accessible URL that confirms your suggested change.
  8. Click Send.

Changes that you can suggest

You can suggest changes to the following content in your knowledge panel:

Featured image

As the entity's representative, if your suggested image is accepted, it takes priority over other images. Your suggested image must be appropriate, represent the topic well and cannot be an ad. Review Google’s content policy for more details.
To set a featured image:
  1. Find your knowledge panel on Google Search.
  2. Click Suggest a change to provide a direct URL of the image.
    1. To copy an image's URL, right-click the image and click Copy image address (wording may vary by browser). Do not share the website URL where the image appears.
    2. If you have Posts on Google, click Update your featured image.
Image requirements are as follows:
  • Format: Your image URL must end in .jpg or .png
  • Size: Use an image with a 3:4 aspect ratio that’s at least 1,000 pixels.
  • People: If the knowledge panel is for a person, their face should be clearly visible in the image.
  • Logos: Use .PNG or .SVG file formats.

Social Profiles

Eligible entities will be able to suggest the addition of new, or edit existing, social profiles. Profiles cannot be reordered.

Specific stats for various categories of entities

Some stats in the knowledge panel are specific to the type of entity (e.g. a film's running time, a schedule for a music festival or a person’s birthday). You can also suggest changes to these stats. Not all available stats will appear in the knowledge panel.
Suggestions must follow Google's policies. For example, we might not make the change that you suggest if it contains inappropriate content, or if we can't confirm its accuracy.

Changes that you cannot suggest

Some parts of the knowledge panel can't be changed, such as:
  • Subtitle
  • Wikipedia snippet
  • Images other than the main image
  • The 'People also search for' section
Tip: Content can’t be re-ordered or hidden if it’s accurate and publicly known.

How Google reviews your suggestions

Once you suggest changes, your suggestions go through a review. Google goes over your suggested changes for accuracy by checking if they’re confirmed by other publicly available information on the web. When prompted, provide supporting documentation in the form of a publicly accessible website URL. All information published in knowledge panel is subject to Google's policies and user feedback.

If accepted, your suggested edit will be added to the Knowledge Graph. Your edit helps Google return richer information and more meaningful results to users’ searches. Your submission is governed by Google's Terms of Service and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy

After the review is complete, we inform you by email if we intend to publish your suggested change.
