Understand where and how posts display

This article explains where and how your posts display on Google Search results pages.

Your posts display directly on Google Search results pages in your knowledge panel. Learn more about publishing directly to Google.

Businesses that serve customers at a particular location or within a designated service area can join Google My Business to be able to reach your customers where they are.

How it works

Published posts appear in your knowledge panel when users search for you or your entities. Up to 8 of your most recent posts appear when users search for you on Google. The posts appear from newest to oldest. Your post most likely appears when a user searches for you or the entity you represent. However, We cannot guarantee that your posts show up for any particular search query.

Your posts may show in the Google feed to users who have shown interest in you.

  • Views from the feed that your posts receive are included in your metrics
  • Event and poll posts do not show in the feed
  • Article and story posts only appear if they have an image or video

Post duration

By default, posts are live on Search for 7 days after they’re published, and can be set to be visible for up to 14 days. You can change the duration of a post by changing its schedule. Before your last posts expire, we send you an email reminder to publish new content.

Topic tagging

Some post types allow you to tag topics to indicate what your posts on Google are about. Posts with an added topic show when a user searches on a mobile device for your entity or for the topic tagged.
