This article explains how to create and manage posts.
The authoring tool allows you to publish messages with rich text, images, videos, and more to Google Search. These posts give you an opportunity to connect with people who are searching for you on Google.
How to create a post
By default, your posts are live for 7 days, but can be extended up to 14 days. For this reason, make sure you regularly post relevant content. Some parties are eligible for announcement posts. By default, these posts are live on Search for 7 days. All content in your posts must comply with our content policies.
To create a post, follow the steps below:
- Go to http://posts.google.com/author.
- Click the Publish on Google text box.
- Choose your post type, and follow the onscreen instructions.
- To see how your post will appear on Search, click Preview at the top of the box. To return to the editor, click Create at the top of the box.
- To target your posts to specific regions or languages, at the top of the box, click Target.
- Select “Limit your post to these regions” and/or “Limit your post to these languages."
- Type the specific regions and/or languages you want to target.
- If you do not select any regions or languages, posts will be shown in all regions and languages.
- When you’re ready, click Publish on the top right to publish your post. Your post appears on Google Search right away.
Post types
The authoring tool provides you several post types to help you connect with the people looking for you on Search.
All posts allow you to add a topic, which adds another avenue for someone to find you when they search for the topic. Start typing to see a list of topics available.

How to edit posts
To edit an existing post, follow the steps below:
- Go to http://posts.google.com/author.
- On the post you want to update, click Menu
.
- Click Edit.
- Make your post changes.
- To save your changes, click Publish.
How to delete posts
To delete an existing post, follow the steps below:
- Go to http://posts.google.com/author.
- On the post you want to delete, click Menu
.
- Click Delete.
- In the confirmation pop-up, click Delete.
Schedule options
To schedule posts to display at a certain time in the future, or to set posts to display for more or less than 7 days, read the instructions below:
How to schedule a post
- Create a post.
- Click Schedule.
- Next to Publish time, click Change.
- Select the date and time you’d like to publish the post.
- Click Save.
- Click Publish. Your post will be published at the time you chose.
How to change visibility time
You can also customize how long your post will stay visible, up to 14 days. To update the duration of a post, follow the steps below:
- On the post you want to edit, click Menu
.
- Click Schedule.
- Next to Visibility time, click Change.
- Select the date and time you’d like the post to stay visible.
- Click Save.
- Click Publish. Your post will be live on Search until the date and time you chose.
How to see older posts on Search
A maximum of 8 posts can appear in the knowledge panel format. Posts appear from newest to oldest. By default, posts appear on Google Search for 7 days after publication. Some parties are eligible for announcement posts. These posts will appear on Google Search for 7 days.
To see older posts in your account, navigate to your account page and scroll down.
Users on Search can see older posts in 2 ways:
- Scroll all the way to the right on your posts and click More from…
- Click your profile image above the knowledge panel
How to share posts
You can share published posts through an email, link, or social media websites like Twitter, and Facebook. To share a post, follow the steps below:
- Go to http://posts.google.com/author.
- On the post you want to share, click Menu
.
- Click Share.
- Choose how you want to share:
- Social media platform: After you click, you’ll be automatically redirected to the platform you choose
- URL: You can copy the URL to the post and share it in another way
- Email: Share the post through email
