Create posts on Google

This article explains how to create and manage posts.

The authoring tool allows you to publish messages with rich text, images, videos, and more to Google Search. These posts give you an opportunity to connect with people who are searching for you on Google.

How to create a post

Your posts are live on Search for 7 days by default, and up to 14 days, so make sure you post relevant content regularly. Your posts and the media they contain need to comply with our content policies.

To create a post, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to http://posts.google.com/author.
  2. Click the Publish on Google text box.
  3. Choose your post type, and follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. To see how your post will appear on Search, click Preview at the top of the box. To return to the editor, click Create at the top of the box.
  5. When you’re ready, click Publish on the top right to publish your post. Your post appears on Google Search right away.

Post types

The authoring tool provides you several post types to help you connect with the people looking for you on Search.

All posts allow you to add a topic, which adds another avenue for someone to find you when they search for the topic. Start typing to see a list of topics available.

Story
Use a story post to create visually rich shareable content. Story posts include a cover page and a minimum of 3 additional body pages. A cover page can contain an image and a title. Body pages can contain an image and a caption. You also have the option to add a call-to-action on the last page. All images in a story are automatically smart cropped for the card on Search with the option of adjusting how the image will appear on the page.

Use an article post when you want to create content that is primarily text (e.g. a press release or update). An article post can be up to 14,400 characters and can include links, images, and videos.
Video
Use a video post to share a video hosted on YouTube. Simply add a YouTube URL, and click Confirm.
Poll
A poll post lets you survey users that are already searching for you on Google. Keep your readers engaged by asking for their opinions and posting your response to the results of the poll. You can use up to 70 characters to ask your poll question, provide 2 or more poll response options, and add images to each option for a more engaging experience.
