This article explains best practices for content and media in your posts.
The authoring tool allows you to post content with rich text, images, videos, and more directly on Google Search. The tool works best if you publish fresh content regularly.
Content best practices
We recommend that you publish content about topics that are relevant to people looking for you on Google Search. Publish news, updates, announcements, and content about what’s currently happening.
Make sure your posts comply with our content policy and avoid content types that are not allowed. Do not reference calls to purchase or specific prices, unless you use the Event post option, which allows you to state the price of an event.
Different post types have their own character limits and typically only a preview is visible on Search. We recommend that you put your best content first so that people will click through for the rest.
Rich media best practices
We’ve found that people are more interested in posts with photos, videos, or GIFs. You can add up to 10 images, videos, or a combination of both to a single post.
Images can be in any resolution and aspect ratio. Images are cropped when they’re displayed as a preview on Search and expand to full size when a user clicks the image. You can preview and modify how image thumbnails look before you publish updates.
While there’s no specific image size restriction, the upload may time out if your image file is too large. If this happens, resize your file and try again.
When you create a post, you can insert YouTube videos that are viewable by the public. You can use Unlisted and Public YouTube videos. Videos display as thumbnails and play directly in Search. You can link to live streams, but not to channels or playlists.
Animated GIFs are supported and will autoplay on Search.
