Create notes & lists with your voice

You can create and edit notes with your voice using Google Keep.

Create a note with your voice

Before you try the steps below, turn on "Ok Google." This setting lets you start a voice action by saying "Ok Google."
  1. Unlock your Android device.
  2. Say "Ok Google."
  3. When the microphone appears, say "Take a note."
  4. Your device might ask "Which notes app?" Say "Google Keep."
  5. Your device will say "What’s the note?"
  6. Say your note. You might need to say "Ok Google" again before you say your note.

Create a list with your voice

Before you try the steps below, turn on "Ok Google." This setting lets you start a voice action by saying "Ok Google."
  1. Unlock your Android device.
  2. Say "Ok Google."
  3. When the microphone appears, say "Create a list."
  4. Say the items you want on your list. To add a title to your list, say "Title."
  5. Optional: You can add, remove, or change items. If you pause, you might need to say "Ok Google" to continue.
    • Add an item
      • "Add orange juice"
    • Add multiple items
      • "Add bread and eggs"
    • Remove an item:
      • "Remove orange juice"
      • "Remove item 1"
    • Change an item:
      • "Change orange juice to apple juice"
      • "Change item 1 to apple juice"
  6. To save the list in Keep, say "Save list."

Add items to a list

Before you try the steps below, turn on "Ok Google." This setting lets you start a voice action by saying "Ok Google."

If a list has a title, you can add more items to a saved list with your voice. You can’t change or remove items with your voice.

  1. Unlock your Android device.
  2. Say "Ok Google."
  3. When the microphone appears, you can say things like:
    • "Add cheese to my grocery list"
  4. The items will be added to your list. If you don’t say the title of a list, Keep will create a new list.

Search and view a list

Before you try the steps below, turn on "Ok Google." This setting lets you start a voice action by saying "Ok Google."

You can use your voice to find and view a list.

  1. Unlock your Android device.
  2. Say "Ok Google."
  3. Ask what’s in a list. For example: "What’s on my grocery list?"
  4. You’ll see all lists with the title "Grocery," with the most recent one first.
