Label, colour or pin notes

To sort and find your notes in Google Keep, you can label, colour and pin notes. If you're sharing a note, only you will be able to see your labels, colours and pins. You can have up to 50 labels.

Label your notes

Add a label

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app .
2. Tap the note that you want to label. To select multiple notes, touch and hold a note  tap other notes that you want to select.
3. At the bottom right, tap Action . If you've selected multiple notes, you can skip this step.
4. Tap Labels .
   • Tick the box next to each label that you want.
   • To add a label, enter a label name in 'Enter label name', and tap Create .
5. At the top left, tap Back .
6. You'll see the label at the bottom of the note. To remove a label, tap a tag.

Edit a label

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu .
3. Next to 'Labels', tap Edit.
4. Find the label that you want to change and tap Edit .
   • To delete a label, tap Delete .
   • To edit a label, enter a new label and tap Done .
5. When you’re done, tap Close .

Change the colour or background of your notes

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app .
2. Tap the note that you want to edit.
3. At the bottom right, tap Action .
4. At the bottom, choose a colour or background from the gallery.
5. To save the changes, in the top left, tap Back .

To edit multiple notes:

1. Touch and hold a note tap other notes that you want to select.
2. Tap Change colour .
3. Choose a colour or background from the gallery.

Pin important notes

You can pin important notes to the top of your Google Keep feed to access them quickly.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app .
2. Tap the note that you want to pin.
3. Tap Pin note .
