Use Google Keep on a Chrome browser

Use the Google Keep Chrome app and extension to take notes while you're browsing the web. The app still works when you're offline.

  1. Open a new tab in Chrome.
  2. Type chrome://apps and press Enter
  3. Click Google Keep .

Sign in to the Keep Chrome app with the same Google Account you're using for Chrome. Learn more about signing in to Chrome.

Once you're signed in, you can use the Keep Chrome app the same way as Keep on the web.

Keyboard shortcuts for the Keep Chrome app

The keyboard shortcuts help you save time and take notes faster in Keep. You can access the list of keyboard shortcuts by typing a question mark on your keyboard.

Note: If you're using a Mac, you'll need to use the command key instead of Ctrl for the shortcuts.

Use the Keep Chrome extension

You can use the Google Keep Chrome extension to save website information to a note.

Use the Keep Chrome extension
  1. Install the "Google Keep Chrome extension."
  2. Use the extension:
    • To save content as a note: Select it, right-click > Save image or selection to Keep.
    • To save a webpage to Keep: At the top right corner of your browser, click Keep .
  3. Type your notes.
  4. When you're done, click back on the screen. Your note will save automatically.
Create a blank note with the extension
  1. At the top right corner of your browser, right-click Keep .
  2. Click New blank note.
  3. Type your notes.
  4. To close the extension, click back on the page. Your note will be saved automatically.
