Choose suggested reply text

When you reply to an email, you might see some suggestions for phrases to use at the bottom of the email. These suggestions are based on the text in the email you received, and aren’t based on words or phrases you usually use to reply to emails.

For example, if the email you received is about scheduling a meeting for a particular day, suggestions might include "Sure, that works," or "I’m not available at that time."

To use a suggested reply, click or tap the suggestion. The phrase will be added to your email, but the email won’t automatically send. You can then go in and edit the phrase, or continue writing the email.

Hide suggestions for replies & follow-ups

You might see old emails at the top of your inbox with a suggestion to reply or follow up.

To hide these suggestions:

  1. On the left, click the Menu Menu and then Settings and then Assists.
  2. Turn off Suggest emails to reply to or Suggest emails to follow up on.
  3. Click Done
