Measure clicks and conversions from vacation packages

A vacation, or holiday, package consists of a hotel, flights, and amenities offered at a combined price for a set number of days. Once you provide the details of the package brands you wish to offer on Google, these will appear on Google travel searches. Travelers wishing to book a package are directed to your booking site to complete the purchase.

The Packages reporting tools in the Hotel Center allow you to track the performance of the brands you make available via Google. You can see how many times your offer came up in searches, how many travelers clicked on your offer, and how many went on to book the package. You can slice the data by dimension, such as device type or user country, and drill down to more detailed levels. You also have the option to download the information as a CSV file.

Before you begin

In order to show your packages on Google and use the Hotel Center tools, you need to:

Overview

When you sign in to your Hotel Center account, you’ll be able to view the metrics summarized in the table below.

Clicks

Clicks are the total number of times users interacted with your vacation package offers by clicking on them. This event typically shows an “intention“ to book a vacation.

Conversions

When a click results in a booking, it is counted as a conversion. To enable conversion tracking, you must add a snippet of code on your booking confirmation page as described here.

Conversion rate

The number of conversions divided by the number of clicks.
For example, if you have two conversions and 10 clicks, the Conversion rate is 20%.

Impressions The number of times your package appeared in a Google search result.

View metrics

The two major areas of the view are the line graphs for each metric and the performance summary table.

To view performance metrics:

  1. Sign in to your Hotel Center account.
  2. Select Packages→Clicks and conversions in the left-hand navigation.
  3. Set the date range, drill-downs, and display details as needed.

To select the period of time over which you want to view your data:

From the date selector at the top of the view, choose one of the pre-configured date ranges, such as the last 7 days, or set a custom date range:

Note: The time stamp for your data will appear according to UTC time. A day is defined as the period between midnight (0:00) to midnight, UTC.

Line graphs

The line graphs show your brand's overall performance for the selected date range. For example, this graph shows the total number of clicks recorded over the past week:

Hover over the graph to see data details for specific days.

Performance summary table

The summary table shows click, conversion, and impression data over the selected date range. Table rows can be sorted by column value in ascending or descending order. You can choose the dimension by which you want to slice the data, and you can select specific categories to display in the line graphs.

To select a dimension:

From the “View by" menu, select one of the following: User country, User language, or Device type.

To view specific categories in the line graphs:

In the table, check the boxes next to any of the languages, user countries, or device types to see the data for these categories in the line graphs. For example, if the device types Total, Mobile, and Desktop are all selected, the graphs will show a color-coded line and label for each one.
