Migrate hotel groups with manual bids to Enhanced CPC

Create one campaign with Enhanced CPC for each hotel group with manual bids and custom bid multipliers
Note: This article applies only to Hotel campaigns in Hotel Ads Center. If you're migrating to Google Ads, you should read Migrate to Hotel campaigns in Google Ads.

For hotel groups with fully manual bidding (Max CPC) and custom bid multipliers, the simplest way to migrate to campaigns is to create one campaign modeled after each hotel group, and to enable Enhanced CPC biddng instead of migrating your custom bid multipliers. You can then gradually apply custom multipliers to tune the performance of your ECPC campaign, and benefit from Smart Bidding as well as exercising direct control.

This is recommended for all partners that use manual bidding and multipliers.

Note: ECPC Requires conversion tracking. For more information, see Enhanced CPC

Detailed steps: Create one ECPC campaign for each hotel group that uses manual bidding
  1. Preparation: Restructure the hotel groups that use manual bidding so that you combine hotels that target the same user countries (via the same or similar values of country bid multipliers) into the same hotel groups.
    • Use just one bid strategy for each hotel group (e.g. no mixing of Max CPC "fixed" and "percent" bids).
    • Target the same user countries in each hotel group (all hotels either target all user countries, or have a zero multiplier for the same set of user countries).
  2. Find the hotel group you’d like to migrate
    • Open the Hotel Ads Center in a browser.
    • In the Dashboard, under the “View By” button, select Hotel Group.
    • Review your list of hotel groups and identify the one you want to migrate. Note the bid strategy and bid of the hotel group.
  3. Create a new campaign
    • Click Dashboard, and under the "View By" button, select Hotel Group.
    • Click the +Create Campaign button.
    • Set "Name" something similar to the hotel group you are migrating, e.g. "Campaign_for_Group_A."
    • Set "Geography" to match the targeting of your hotel group (i.e. exclude the countries which had zero bid multipliers.)
    • Set "Bid Strategy" to match the hotel group being migrated (fixed or percent).
    • Set "Base Bid" to match the default bid/target of the group being migrated.
    • If the group you're migrating used automatic bid multipliers:
      • Check the Enhanced CPC option.
    • Set "Campaign Status" to Paused.
    • Save the campaign.
  4. Import a hotel group to an ad group
    • Click on the campaign you just created (you'll see you're now in "Campaign View.")
    • Open the Ad Group Editor.
    • Create a new ad group for active hotels. Give it a name like "targeted hotels."
    • Click the Ad Group Editor tab.
    • Click the Import Hotel Groups button.
    • Select the hotel group you’d like to import, then click Import.
    • You’ll see a new ad group in your campaign that corresponds to the hotel group.
  5. Pause the “Ungrouped” ad group
    • Click Dashboard > View By > Campaign.
    • Find the “Ungrouped” ad group in the table at bottom, and click on it.
    • Under the “Status” button, select Paused. (Warning: If you don’t pause the “Ungrouped” ad group, all hotels in your campaign will serve. Only the ad group you migrated from a hotel group should have an “Active” status.)
  6. Migrate hotel-level bids
    • Return to the account dashboard by clicking on the account name in the navigation bar.
    • Click the Bulk Edit Bids button, then Edit Bids Offline.
    • In the "Select group" button, select the name of the hotel group you're migrating, and click Download to download the group bids CSV file. You will be copying bids from this file.
    • Return to the account dashboard by clicking on the account name in the navigation bar.
    • Click on the name of the new campaign to open it (you'll see you are now in "Campaign View.")
    • Click Bulk Edit Bids then Edit Bids Offline.
    • In the "Select group" button, select the name of the targeted ad group within the campaign, and click Download to download the group bids CSV file. You will be copying bids to this file.
    • In the campaign bids file, clear out all rows except the header row.
    • Copy the "property_id," "bid_rate," and "currency" columns from the group bids CSV file to the campaign CSV file.
      • Don't copy data from the "account_default" or "group_defalt" rows.
      • Don't copy data from the "bid multiplier" columns.
    • Upload the modified campaign bids CSV file.
  7. Activate your campaign
    • In “Campaign View,” use the Campaign Settings button to review campaign details such as bid and bid         strategy. Make sure they match those of the hotel group you migrated.
    • Unpause the campaign.

Repeat these steps for each hotel group that uses manual bidding
