Editing Bids CSV Files

Use the Bids CSV file to manage bids for your properties in bulk via offline tools. Each row represents a distinct bid target.

You can set bids for each bid target in your account (the account default bid, Hotel Group bids, or bids on individual properties). For each bid row, you specify the bid strategy, and depending on the strategy you also specify the bid rate, currency, and any Bid Multipliers to apply.

NOTE: To update bids for a subset of your hotels, you can drop the other rows. Bids for bid targets that are not included in the Bids CSV file remain unchanged.

Column descriptions

The following table describes the column of the bids CSV file:

Field Description Required?
property_id The unique ID of the property or bid target.

To set the account default bid, set the value in this row to "account_default". There can be only one bid row in which this value is "account_default".

To set bids on a Hotel Group, set the value of this column to "group:group_name". For example, "group:Northeast".

There can be only one bid row for each bid target.

Required
group     The Hotel Group to which the property belongs.

Set to "[Ungrouped]" if the hotel does not belong to a Hotel Group.

Set to "n/a" for account default bid rows or group bid rows. In other words, for rows where the property_id is set to "account_default" or a group name, the value of this column should be "n/a".

If you specify the wrong group for a hotel, the update fails.

Required
bid_type     The type of bid specified in this row. Possible values are:
  • ACCOUNT_DEFAULT (account level only)
  • BID_BUDGET_OPTIMIZER (account level only)
  • BID_COMMISSION
  • BID_FIXED
  • BID_PERCENTAGE
  • BID_TARGET_ROAS (Hotel Group level and account level only)
  • GROUP_DEFAULT (Hotel Group level only)

Required
bid_rate     The amount of the bid, either as a fixed value or as a percentage value of the room's cost.

If bid_type is BID_FIXED, then this value is a fixed amount in the currency defined by the currency column.

If bid_type is a value other than BID_FIXED, then this value is a percentage value. In this case, do not specify the currency.

This value is required if bid_type is BID_FIXED, BID_PERCENTAGE, BID_TARGET_ROAS, or BID_COMMISSION. In all other cases, leave this value blank.

Required
currency     The three letter currency code for the bid. For example, "USD" or "EUR".

This column is only required if bid_type is set to BID_FIXED. In all other cases, leave this value blank.

Required
bid_multiplier_mode     Indicates whether the Bid Multipliers for this property are explicitly set in this row, inherited (from the hotel group bid or account default bid), or the property uses an Automatic Bid Multiplier.

If the bid_type is ACCOUNT_DEFAULT or GROUP_DEFAULT, this field must be empty. If bid_type is any other value, this column's value must be set.

The value can be one of the following:

  • EXPLICIT: Use the Bid Multipliers specified in the columns that follow for this property or group. If the remaining Bid Multipliers columns are blank, then no Bid Multipliers are applied.
  • INHERIT: Use the Bid Multipliers from the account default or the group default. No additional columns for this bid row are used.
  • AUTOMATIC: Use an Automatic Bid Multiplier for this property or group. No additional columns for this bid row are used. For more information, see [link to ABM doc].

Required
Bid Multiplier Columns All remaining columns are used to specify Bid Multipliers.

If your bid target does not use multipliers, you can omit these columns from your Bids CSV file.

If you omit some of these columns, or leave some cells empty, they will implicitly be set to '1', overriding the previously set multiplier values.

site_sitetype[4]     Specifies the Bid Multiplier for each of the site types.

A value of 0 sets the bid to 0 for that site type. A value of 1 has no effect (multiplies the bid by 1).

Leave the field empty to indicate a Bid Multiplier of 1 (no effect).

Optional
device_devicetype[3]     Specifies the Bid Multiplier for each of the supported device types.

A value of 0 sets the bid to 0 for that site type. A value of 1 has no effect (multiplies the bid by 1).

Leave the field empty to indicate a Bid Multiplier of 1 (no effect).

Optional
length_of_stay_length[14]     Specifies Bid Multipliers for the length of stay. The multiplier applies for all LOS values greater than or equal to the one you specified (unless another LOS multiplier overrides that).

Leave the field empty to indicate a Bid Multiplier of 1 (no effect).

NOTE: Define values in contiguous columns only. Do not skip columns when defining the LOS multiplier. For example, don't define a value in column 1, skip column 2, and then define a value in column 3.

Optional
country_countrycode[100+]     Specifies the Bid Multiplier for each country.

A value of 0 sets the bid to 0 for that site type. A value of 1 has no effect (multiplies the bid by 1).

Leave the field empty to indicate a Bid Multiplier of 1 (no effect).

Optional
checkin_dayofweek[7]     Specifies the Bid Multiplier for each day of the week.

A value of 0 sets the bid to 0 for that site type. A value of 1 has no effect (multiplies the bid by 1).

Leave the field empty to indicate a Bid Multiplier of 1 (no effect).

Optional
date_type_selected Specifies the Bid Multiplier for searches in which the end-user selected the dates.

Valid values are between 0.5 and 2, inclusive.

Optional
date_type_default Specifies the Bid Multiplier for searches in which the end-user used the default dates.

Valid values are between 0.5 and 2, inclusive.

Optional
advance_booking_window _min_days_numdays[10]

advance_booking_window _multiplier_numdays[10]

In a pair of columns, specifies the Bid Multiplier for the number of days in the Advance Booking Window (ABW).

The min_days_numdays column specifies the minimum number of days in the ABW range to apply the multiplier to. The associated multiplier_numdays column defines the multiplier for that range.

You can create up to 10 ranges, where each value in the min_days_numdays column must be higher than the previous value.

For example, if:

  • min_days_1   = 1 (0-1 days)
  • multiplier_1 = .85
  • min_days_2   = 10 (2-10 days)
  • multiplier_2 = 1.25
  • min_days_3   = 11 (11-19 days)
  • multiplier_3 = 1.5
  • min_days_4   = 20 (20+ days)
  • multiplier_4 = 1.14

The multiplier for an ABW of 0 to 1 days is .85, 2 to 10 days is 1.25, 11 to 19 days is 1.5, and 20 days or more is 1.14.

The maximum number of days is 180.

NOTE: Define values in contiguous columns only. Do not skip columns when defining the ABW multiplier. For example, don't define a value in column 1, skip column 2, and then define a value in column 3.

Optional

The results of a successful upload may appear as multiple operations in your account change history.

Examples

Setting an account default bid

To set an account default bid with no Bid Multipliers, use the following settings:

Column Value
