Goodbye to Helpouts

Helpouts was officially shut down on April 20, 2015

Since launching in 2013, Helpouts has been a home for people to connect with experts on topics they want to learn about or seek advice and solutions to everyday problems. The Helpouts community includes some engaged and loyal contributors, but unfortunately, it hasn't grown at the pace we had expected. Sadly, we've made the tough decision to shut down the product.

We want to thank our community for all their support — both the providers who shared their expertise with the world, and the people who needed some extra help or advice along the way. You've had a lot to contribute — and we've loved learning alongside you.

Download your Helpouts history

You can download your Helpouts history using Google Takeout (available until November 1, 2015). After November 1, all Helpouts history will be deleted.

In accordance with applicable privacy laws and to protect personal health information, Google Takeout: (a) will not be available to providers in the Healthcare category (your account and Helpouts history has been deleted); and (b) does not include any data relating to Healthcare Helpouts a customer may have taken.

  • Why is Helpouts shutting down?
    The Helpouts community includes some engaged and loyal contributors, but unfortunately, it hasn't grown at the pace we had expected. Sadly, we've made the tough decision to shut down the product.
  • What will happen to my Helpouts history after the shutdown?
    Starting April 20, you'll be able to download your Helpouts history by using Google Takeout (available until November 1, 2015). After November 1, all Helpouts history will be deleted. In accordance with applicable privacy laws and to protect personal health information, Google Takeout: (a) will not be available to providers in the Healthcare category (your account and Helpouts history will be deleted starting April 15, 2015); and (b) will not include any data relating to Healthcare Helpouts a customer may have taken.
  • Why can't I use the Google Takeout tool for my Healthcare account/sessions?
    We are doing this in compliance with applicable privacy laws and to protect personal health information.
  • How do I contact the Helpouts support team?
    You can contact our support team for any and all assistance you need with your Helpouts account during the shutdown.

Providers

  • Can I keep my Helpouts profile to retain my review?
    When we shut down on April 20, your profile will no longer be accessible. You are welcome to download your Helpouts history by using Google Takeout (available until November 1, 2015), which will include any reviews you have received as a provider. In accordance with applicable privacy laws and to protect personal health information, this option will unfortunately not be available to providers in the Healthcare category and will not include any data relating to Healthcare Helpouts a customer may have taken.
  • Will I still be paid for the Helpouts I've given before the shutdown?
    Yes, you will continue to be paid for the Helpouts you've given before the shutdown. Payments are initiated on the 15th of each month for the paid Helpouts given in the previous month.
  • When will my last payment be made?
    The last payment will be initiated on May 15, 2015 for Helpouts given in April before the shutdown.
  • Will I still be able to view my Helpouts and payment history?
    The Helpouts website will no longer be accessible and will redirect to Google Takeout until November 1, 2015. You are welcome to download your Helpouts history by using Google Takeout before November 1, which will include any reviews you have received as a provider. In accordance with applicable privacy laws and to protect personal health information, unfortunately, this option will not be available to providers in the Healthcare category and will not include any data relating to Healthcare Helpouts a customer may have taken.
  • Can I still connect with other Helpouts providers on the Helpouts Discuss Community?
    When we shut down Helpouts on April 20, our social profiles will no longer be active. You are welcome to create your own communities or continue to connect with your fellow providers in other ways.

Customers

  • Can I still request a refund?
    Yes, if you are dissatisfied with a Helpout, you can contact our support team to request a refund. Please note that refund requests must be made within 72 hours of the end of the Helpout taken.
