You have been waiting impatiently, asking when it would arrive. Now it is HERE!!! Released by the HPD Collaborative over a year ago, Portico is now updated to align with HPD v2.0.
1. What are the top level changes that will affect PT’s the most?
Product Status: products created using HPD v1.0 standard with “Data Entry Started” status will change to “Record Created”. This is to ensure that manufacturers will provide data using HPDv2 standard. For products in the product list with IR Sent status, we suggest that project teams resend IRs so that manufacturers are alerted to complete product data under HPDv2 standard. All new products entered in Portico v2.0 entered will automatically follow the HPD v2.0 standard.
2. How do these changes align with LEED v4 and Living Build Challenge Red List?
a. Reporting threshold of 1000 ppm is required for the LEED v4 disclosure credit.
b. Reporting threshold of 100 ppm is required for the LEED v4 optimization credit.
c. HPD v2.0 allows for various reporting thresholds per materials in a product rather than one overall encapsulating threshold for the entire product. However, the product will be scored based on the lowest threshold.
d. In order to meet LBC Red List, all products must be identified, characterized and screened at 100 ppm or higher and must not have any Red List chemicals and with residuals either considered or be disclosed by process chemistry.
3. How will my manufacturers be affected (top-level)?
a. Content Inventory: HPD v2.0 allows content inventory to be organized by materials that comprise the product, with substances listed under each material. This nested approach more closely reflects how products are made and how manufacturers think about products and assess alternatives.
b. Hazard Screening: hazards are associated with substances within the materials rather than presenting as a single list in the summary. This provides important context for the user.
c. Residuals Screening: where applicable, residuals and impurities are to be included in the content inventory, it is no longer a separate section. If not disclosed as part of content inventory, residuals and impurities will be identified based on process chemistry.
4. How can I help my manufacturer provide the information needed?
a. Resend IRs to alert that product information using the HPDv2 standard is needed.Ensure that products meet both LEED and Google requirements.
b. Ask manufacturers to confirm that HPDs can be used for LEED documentation. This option is in the verification section of the product entry.
c. Plan to allow for longer data entry times.
