Greetings:
This year Google launched Portico, our exciting new platform for healthy materials selection and procurement. Within a few months of Portico release, we have close to 1,000 products that meet our new requirements, and we would like to see your products in Portico too!
Our vision for 2015 is ambitious. Our goal is to have 10,000 products in the database by the end of Portico’s first year. By January 1, 2016, all products with old data and status will expire. In other words, any products with grandfathered status, whether noted as “meets criteria” or “below criteria” with zero points, will be deleted from our database and not available to our project teams. Based on the product information shared with us previously through Google’s Building Materials Questionnaire, your products’ status has been carried over from the Healthy Materials Library into Portico with the following status:
Approved (old status) = Meets Criteria (new status)
Not Approved (old status) = Below Criteria (new status)
With a growing number of LEED v4 projects in the works across our portfolio, our project teams are striving to find products that meet LEED v4 Materials Credit for LEED v4 Materials Credit for Product Disclosure criteria. When you update your product information, our Design and Construction teams are able to view and select your product(s) for use on projects across Google’s global portfolio. Portico’s selection criteria is aligned with several industry standards, including Health Product Declaration, GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals, and Cradle to Cradle. For more information on Google’s Healthy Materials criteria, please find the attached overview document.

Updating products in Portico generates a Health Product Declaration, which can be used to meet LEEDv4 requirements not just for Google projects but for any other customer(s). Google places a high value on disclosure and transparency and awards these efforts, too. Help us put clarity, transparency, and sustainability values within reach of project teams.
Thank you for your company’s commitment to creating a healthier and more sustainable built environment for us all.
